Section 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
  EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Contact with water liberates extremely flammable gases. Limited evidence of a carcinogenic effect. May cause sensitization by skin contact.Water-reactive.Cancer suspect agent.
Potential Health Effects
Eye:
May cause eye irritation. Aluminum particles may cause corneal necrosis.
Skin:
May cause skin irritation. May cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction, which becomes evident upon re-exposure to this material.
May be harmful if absorbed through the skin. Causes "nickel itch" which is a dermatitis resulting from sensitization to nickel, which is characterized by skin eruptions, followed by discrete ulcers that may discharge and become crusted, or by eczema.
Ingestion:
May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated. May be harmful if swallowed.
Inhalation:
May cause respiratory tract irritation. Inhalation of fumes may cause metal fume fever, which is characterized by flu-like symptoms with metallic taste, fever, chills, cough, weakness, chest pain, muscle pain and increased white blood cell count. May cause anosmia (loss of smell). Exposure may cause coughing, shortness of breath, lethargy, and an increased respiration rate. Breathing Nickel (Dust and Fume) can cause a sore or hole in the "bone" (septum) dividing the inner nose.
Chronic:
Possible cancer hazard based on tests with laboratory animals.
Chronic inhalation of fine dusts may cause lung damage. Chronic inhalation may cause pulmonary fibrosis. Repeated inhalation may cause perforation of the nasal septum.

Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
Skin:
Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Ingestion:
Get medical aid. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Wash mouth out with water.
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to Physician:

Section 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
  General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Water Reactive. Material will react with water and may release a flammable and/or toxic gas. This material in sufficient quantity and reduced particle size is capable of creating a dust explosion.
Extinguishing Media:
Do NOT use water directly on fire. Do NOT use carbon dioxide. Use dry chemical to fight fire.

Section 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section. Avoid generating dusty conditions.
Provide ventilation. Remove ignition sources since flammable hydrogen gas may be generated by reaction with water.

Section 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE
  Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Do not allow contact with water. Keep from contact with moist air and steam.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place. Store in a tightly closed container.
Keep away from water.

Section 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION
  Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below the permissible exposure limits.
Exposure Limits CAS# 12635-29-9: United States OSHA: 1 mg/m3 TWA (as Ni) (listed under Nickel sol compounds).
Belgium - TWA: (listed as nickel soluble compounds): 0.1 mg/m3 VL (as Ni) Malaysia: (listed as nickel soluble compounds): 0.1 mg/m3 TWA (inhalable fraction, as Ni) Netherlands: (listed as nickel soluble compounds): 0.1 mg/m3 MAC Ni) Spain: (listed as nickel soluble compounds): 0.1 mg/m3 VLA-ED (as Personal Protective Equipment Eyes: Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166.
Skin:
Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.
Clothing:
Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators:
Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Use a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or other symptoms are experienced.
